Member Welfare Health & Support

The Police Co-operative Society is deeply committed to the welfare and well-being of its members and their families. Through a series of thoughtful welfare initiatives, the Society ensures financial assistance, medical security, educational support, and social protection for serving and retired police personnel. Each program reflects the Society's core values of compassion, care, and cooperative strength.

Comprehensive Family Health Insurance Scheme

The Comprehensive Family Health Insurance Scheme is one of the Society's most notable initiatives and the first of its kind among police co-operatives in Kerala. It provides extensive health insurance coverage for police officers, their family members (including parents), and retired personnel.

Implemented in partnership with a leading public-sector insurance company, the plan offers ₹3,00,000 coverage per member and dependent, with the Society contributing 20% of the premium. The scheme ensures inclusive protection and affordability for all.

  • Covers pre-existing illnesses with no medical tests or waiting period.
  • Cashless treatment available at empanelled hospitals; reimbursement for others.
  • Newborn coverage from birth up to 90 days.
  • Ayurvedic treatments covered up to 25% of insured sum.
  • Ambulance allowance up to ₹2,000; room and ICU charges at 1% & 2% respectively.
  • Treatment available at hospitals across India.

This landmark scheme has transformed healthcare access for police families, offering affordable and reliable medical protection.

Accident Insurance Scheme

Considering the risk-filled nature of police service, the Society provides a Free Accident Insurance Scheme to ensure safety and financial protection for all members.

  • ₹10,00,000 compensation for accidental death.
  • ₹10,00,000 for total permanent disability.
  • ₹5,00,000 for partial disability.
  • Weekly compensation up to ₹5,000 during temporary disablement.
  • Medical expense coverage up to ₹1,00,000 per accident.

This scheme provides crucial support to police families facing unforeseen challenges and reinforces the Society's care for its members.

Emergency & Medical Assistance

The Society offers a range of emergency and medical assistance programs to help members during times of crisis. These initiatives provide financial aid, interest-free loans, and immediate support for medical needs.

  • Emergency Grant for Accidents – Quick assistance for immediate treatment needs.
  • Grant for Serious Medical Conditions – Partial reimbursement for critical illnesses.
  • Interest-Free Critical Care Loan – For life-saving treatments and emergencies.
  • Interest-Free Infertility Treatment Loan – Up to ₹2,00,000 for fertility treatments.

These programs ensure that no member faces financial distress during medical emergencies or family health crises.

Risk Fund Scheme

The Risk Fund Scheme, introduced by the Co-operation Department and implemented by the Society in 2013, ensures loan protection for members' families. If a borrower passes away, the outstanding loan amount is written off, relieving dependents and guarantors from financial burden.

This thoughtful initiative provides peace of mind and safeguards member families against unexpected debt obligations.

Death Benefit Scheme

The Death Benefit Scheme offers additional protection to families of deceased members. Upon a borrower's death, the remaining loan balance is fully waived, ensuring dependents are not left with financial obligations.

  • Members contribute 0.5% of loan amount at the time of sanction.
  • The amount is adjusted in the final installment of the loan.
  • Provides financial relief and long-term security for bereaved families.

Education Assistance & Excellence Awards

Education remains one of the core focus areas of the Society. Through scholarships, interest-free loans, and merit-based awards, the Society encourages the educational advancement of its members' children.

Education Assistance
  • Financial aid for school, college, and higher education.
  • Interest-Free Professional Education Loan up to ₹5,00,000 for professional courses in medicine, engineering, law, and management.
  • Assistance for textbooks, uniforms, and essential learning tools.
Excellence Awards
  • Annual awards for outstanding performance in SSLC, Plus Two, Degree, and Postgraduate exams.
  • Special recognition for students admitted to IIT, IIM, Medical, and Engineering institutions.
  • Awards for excellence in arts, culture, and sports at state and national levels.

These programs inspire young achievers and honor the academic and cultural excellence of police families, fostering a spirit of growth and achievement.

A Lifelong Commitment to Care

Through these diverse welfare initiatives, the Police Co-operative Society continues to stand by its members at every stage of life. From health and safety to education and family welfare, these programs reflect a true commitment to compassion, cooperation, and collective strength.
